Jimi Filipovski is a designer focused on product, brand, and interaction; based in Detroit. He also runs the Detroit Design Department.

Unlike most, Jimi’s career path has been full up new and exciting challenges. He graduated from the Institute of Art - Chicago with a BFA in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. This earned him a position at Leviathan where he worked on large display concert visuals for the Amon Tobin iSam World Tour. The work received a Communication Arts Award of Excellence.

After working in post-production for some time he took a job at Razorfish as a designer. Here he cut his teeth for years working with clients like Motorola, Target, Samsung and more. Often traveling and additionally serving as a photographer, and content creator. From there he went on to work at VSA Partners —A prestigious design firm in Chicago.

Jimi opened his own studio, where he helped launch brands, products and campaigns for small-businesses and individuals. Then in 2016, to his mothers delight he took at job close to home at Waymark in Detroit. Waymark nearly tripled in size during this time.

Most recently, Jimi was Head of Design at Sweet — A simple app to lower your phone bill.

When not designing Jimi enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend Sara and Australian Shepherd Cairo. Eats a mostly plant-based diet and enjoys soccer, running, writing, meditation, the teachings of stoicism.
